Trek the Trail 2009 – Route to be Advised

Sunday 20th September 2009
The date is confirmed, but keep watching this space to find out which new route will be offered along the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail for 2009

Welcome to the official site for Trek the Trail, the premier annual event for The Shire of Mundaring. First held in 2004, Trek has just completed its fifth consecutive year and has grown from strength to strength to become the eagerly anticipated event for walking and cycling groups, individuals, couples and families from all over Perth and regional WA.

About Trek: Essentially, Trek the Trail is a not for profit health and leisure event that allows participants to walk or cycle a different section of the historic Railway Reserves Heritage Trail each year.  It is free and open to all.  The great thing about Trek is that it is non competitive, which means you can take as long as you like to complete the route, or just complete a section of it. Combining the elements of the natural environment, health and fitness, arts and culture and history and heritage, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Add to this, a community celebration featuring entertainment, festivities and a marketplace of local producers and we have a great day in store. Mundaring is only a half an hour from Perth city, making this an attractive getaway for the day.

How Trek Comes Together: The Shire of Mundaring is proud to work with its partners, the Mundaring Tourism Association, the Mundaring Arts Centre and the Mundaring and Hills Historical Society to bring this event to fruition.  Trek is able to be staged through the generosity of our sponsors and the in kind support of various local businesses, schools and community groups.  Many of these groups assist us on the day with running the event, some earmarking it for the fundraising and training and development opportunities that it presents.  This pride that the local community demonstrates when showcasing their community spirit was rewarded with the event winning the Premier’s Australia Day Award for Excellence in a Community Event 2004.

Date: The 2009 event is scheduled for Sunday 20 September, ideally placed to capture the essence of Spring and the wildflower season.  Register it now in your calendar and enjoy navigating your way around the site.
